Plano firefighters responded around midnight Wednesday to a large fire at an apartment complex in the 600 block of Legacy Drive. At one point, that fire was escalated to two alarms.

Plano fire officials say one person had to be rescued from a second-floor balcony. They were taken to the hospital and are currently in stable condition. They said around 10 to 12 apartments were impacted by the fire, but it’s unclear how many residents were affected.

Fire officials said they suspect arson. A person of interest was taken into custody by Plano police.

The investigation is now being led by arson investigators from the Plano fire department.

Property management and the Red Cross are on scene to help displaced residents.
